Failing to enjoy Michael Rosen’s instinctive, deceptively simple, dancing prose-poetry is rather like disliking lemon drizzle cake; or finding Labrador puppies a bit creepy. Not impossible – but very, very rare and unlikely. Bear Flies High is a worthy companion to the much-loved We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and The Bear in the Cave, and is made of satisfyingly similar stuff. Expect repetition, interaction, language games, Adrian Reynolds’ lovable illustrations… and a CD clearly demonstrating that the author enjoys his work at least as much as the rest of us.
