Wear it Pink this October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

  • Wear it Pink this October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October marks the return of Breast Cancer Awareness month – an important opportunity to raise awareness of breast cancer and fundraise so that we can continue to fund vital research into the disease.

Breast Cancer Now’s research has never been more important – breast cancer remains the most common cancer in the UK.

Well over half a million people are living with the devastating impact of breast cancer in the UK. And if that wasn’t heart-breaking enough, in the time there is between each wear it pink, around 11,500 more lives are lost to the disease.

We can’t live with that. Breast Cancer Now funds research and support entirely focused on breast cancer and our aim is that by 2050 everyone who develops breast cancer lives – and receives the support they need to live well.

Wear it pink – 18 October 2019

It’s never been more important to wear it pink! This year Breast Cancer Now united with Breast Cancer Care to create one charity for everybody affected by breast cancer.

It means the money you raise this year will not only help us carry out even more world-class research, it’ll also help us provide life-changing support and campaign for better services and care

Breast Cancer Now’s wear it pink day is one of the biggest and pinkest fundraising events in the UK.

Taking place on Friday 18 October, wear it pink day will once again unite thousands of fundraisers in their schools, workplaces and homes across the country as they ditch their everyday colours and pull on something pink to raise money for vital breast cancer research and support.

Since the first wear it pink event in 2002, over £33 million has been raised by fundraisers across the UK for Breast Cancer Now’s research. For 2018, we’re encouraging schools, teachers and pupils across the country to join us again and dig out their pink glad rags to help stop breast cancer in its tracks.

Get involved

It’s very easy to get involved in wear it pink at your school – you can hold a pink cake sale or organise a pink non-uniform day. The more pink activities, cakes and bunting you fit into your day, the more money you’ll raise towards a future where everybody who develops breast cancer lives.

Breast Cancer Now has put together a fantastic fundraising pack available for everyone who registers to wear it pink with us. It’s packed with lots of great ideas and fundraising tips to make sure your day is a huge success.

Lottie Barnden, Senior Fundraising Products Manager at Breast Cancer Now, said:

“Wear it pink is a brilliant opportunity for schools across the UK to fundraise together and there are so many fun ways to get involved. Whatever you do, you’ll be raising money for Breast Cancer Now’s vital research and support.”

“We know how much fun schools have when they take part in wear it pink and we look forward to hearing all about the ways pupils and teachers across the UK are planning to fundraise and take part this year.”
