Bright Horizons Family Solutions, which operates over 200 nurseries in the UK and Ireland, has received a Gold Award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) for the fourth consecutive year.

The RoSPA Safety Awards are internationally recognised and have fast become the most sought after accolade by organisations from every sector. This key fixture in the health and safety calendar offers organisations a prime opportunity to prove their ongoing commitment to raising health and safety standards and to be a part of the longest running and most highly respected occupational safety awards programme. Bright Horizons received their award at a ceremony on Tuesday 14th June at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham.

As a leading provider of high quality care and early education, the award reflects Bright Horizons’ commitment to the safety and wellbeing of the children in their care and of the staff who care for them. In addition to the company’s rigorous safety policies, they also have a formal Keeping Everyone Safe (KES) management structure that supports effective health and safety leadership throughout the business. The structure enables the flow of their health and safety priorities, performance indicators, learning and monitoring to move freely upwards, downwards and sideways within the organisation. A guiding principle of their structure is that everyone retains responsibility for health and safety even if parts of that responsibility are delegated to others.

Lydia Green, Senior Operations Director at Bright Horizons Family Solutions, said: “As an organisation we are thrilled to be awarded a RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Award for the fourth consecutive year, as ‘Keeping Everyone Safe’ is our core value and key priority at all times.  This external validation is particularly encouraging and gives due recognition to our ongoing efforts to strengthen our culture of behavioural safety.”

David Rawlins, RoSPA’s Awards Manager, said: “The RoSPA Awards encourage improvement in occupational health and safety management. Organisations that gain recognition for their health and safety management systems, such as Bright Horizons Family Solutions, contribute to raising standards overall and we congratulate them.”
