You can do this through your observations and assessments for each child and by describing how well you know your children – their likes and areas where they show less interest. How have they progressed and developed during their time with you? Try to show through observations what children are learning and how adults intervene to move learning on. Think about particular children whose stories you can recall to illustrate this impact on their lives, and how you’re supporting children from disadvantaged backgrounds those with SEND to achieve the best possible outcomes. Q What is cultural capital? A Cultural capital is the essential knowledge children need to prepare them for future success. It’s giving children awe and wonder of the world in which they live, through the areas of learning. This goes back to knowing your children and families well and enhancing and providing a breadth of quality of experiences as well as celebrating each individual child’s cultural capital within your setting. All children come with their own cultural capital, with experiences they have and haven’t had. You might want to consider how you have increased this for the most disadvantaged.
