Intervention Nuffield Improves children’s oral language skills and supports reading comprehension A 20-week language intervention programme for children in their first year of primary school who show weakness in their oral language skills and who are therefore at risk of experiencing difficulty with reading. Rated by the EEF as a low-cost programme with excellent strength of evidence proven to boost children’s progress by an additional 3 months* * Randomised control trial conducted by the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) in June 2018 and November 2019, involving 1,156 pupils across 193 schools.
